A Tyrannosaurus Rex was spotted at Galuppi’s in Pompano Beach, Florida! Thanks to digital technology, the mighty creature took a leap through time to crash the wedding of Nicole and Justin.
Photographers Liam Crotty and Diana Sarmiento took the viral wedding photo of the newlyweds and their guests running for their lives. “The bridal party had a riot running from an invisible T-Rex”, says Diana. “They just couldn’t contain their laughter.”
Nicole and Justin contacted the wedding photographers one month before their wedding. The couple wanted something different, memorable. After brainstorming, the inspiration came from an iconic movie, Jurassic Park.
“I knew this will be a challenging shot, but we love to be challenged”, says Liam. After three takes and post-processing, the wedding photographers had a viral wedding photo on their hands.
This made Liam and Diana wonder what makes a viral wedding photo. Why do people share images on social media? By the end of this blog post, you’ll know what images are most likely to get shared, go viral and why.
What makes a viral wedding photo?
1. EMOTION
We are both social and visual creatures. Thanks to social media platforms, it is now easier to connect with one another. One way to socialize is by sharing content you identify with. An image that succeeds to connect with the viewer on an emotional level is most likely to go viral.
A research from Harvard Business Review found that images communicating Admiration, Interest, Serenity, Amazement and Astonishment are more likely to get shared.
2. COLOR
Other than emotion, color is another important factor when it comes to shareable images. Vibrant, intense colors are stimulating and have a greater visual impact than washed out ones.
Saeideh Bakhshi and Eric Gilbert conducted a study on color trends on Pinterest. After looking at over 1,000,000 Pinterest images, they concluded that red, purple and pink promote sharing.
3. ORIGINALITY
Liam and Diana’s T-Rex viral wedding photo managed to stand out by virtue of its inspiring and positive message. “Opting for a fun, unique and unconventional shot takes you out of your comfort zone. Its great living on the ‘dangerous’ side of life for a change”, says Diana.
